B1G1 – Give Seeds to Nourish a Child Day After Day

In the Western world, many of us take for granted the quality of life we are given. Unfortunately, this is not a worldwide luxury. Some children in Africa with bloated stomachs from malnutrition sometimes only receive one meal of maize porridge on a “good day”. Many of these impoverished children suffer from diseases of malnutrition due to their lack of access to nutritious food. With B1G1, you can make a difference. By linking with high-impact projects such as Every Home Global Concern, it is easy to give parents supplies of seeds to grow healthy crops so they can feed and sustain their children day after day.

Blessings

I often sit and think how blessed my family and I are to be able to go to the shop at any time and buy anything we like while knowing others don’t have that privilege. Every night we sit around the table as a family with an abundance of food and remind ourselves of these opportunities. With B1G1, we can share these privileges.

B1G1

B1G1 makes business giving easy. The organisation allows business activities to link with powerful, high-impact projects changing our world. These projects align with the Sustainable Development Goals set by global leaders to create a sustainable future for us all. Businesses can simultaneously provide to multiple projects and can choose the ways to give that best fit with their way of doing business. Because membership fees directly fund B1G1’s developments, innovations, and operations, 100% of giving goes directly to the designated projects.

Never get tired of doing little things for others.

Project Story

The Give Seeds To Nourish A Child project distributes seeds as part of a food security project in both Malawi in Zambia. The seeds are accompanied by training in nutrition and conservation farming methods as well as broader health, sanitation and income generation subjects. The project is managed by Every Home Global Concern, which distributes both fruit seedlings and vegetable seeds as well as maize and soya seeds.

In Malawi:

  • 2012-13 – 1000 seedlings helped 200 households (1,000 people)
  • 2013-14 – 1004 seedlings to 38 households (190 people)
  • 2014-15 – 610 seedlings to 86 households (430 people)

An estimated that about 1,620 people have benefitted from the Malawi project. Furthermore, a similar number of seeds were distributed to households using maize, soya and vegetables, further increasing these figures.

In Zambia:

  • 2012-13 – 240 bags of maize – 240 households (1,200 people)
  • 2013-14 240 bags of maize – 240 households (1,200 people)
  • 2014-15 240 bags of maize – 240 households (1,200 people)

An estimated that about 3,600 people (720 households) in Zambia have benefitted from maize seeds from the project so far.

HTG

At HTG, we’re proud to be a part of an organisation that gives back to communities and cares about making a difference in the world. It’s a gratifying process, and B1G1 allows for the tracking of every single impact we make in real-time.

Every day we impact someone’s life by just turning up to work to do what we are passionate about, all the while knowing that children around the world have a chance for a future. We’re so proud to be able to make a massive impact on a child and a whole community with such a small contribution, every single day.

Take a look at our giving so far to see our global impact and just how easy it is to make a difference to the world.
